Binance has reported about $570 million worth of BNB stolen by hackers. Hackers targeted cross-chain linking bridge with Binance and managed to withdraw 2 million BNB.
Earlier it was reported that the stolen amount could be worth $100 million, BNB however dropped this price to about 3%.
Binance reported on an official blog suggesting that with the help of security experts they were able to put the situation under control. Going forward Binance reported using voting on its governance to how to deal with the stolen coins, either freeze the stolen ones, burn to auto cover, and include even steps like a bounty to catch the hackers.
This is one of the major breaches in recent months, it has been estimated that about $1.5 billion has been lost to hackers since the beginning of 2022 due to cross-chain bridge exploits.
